powerbitutorials.com is an independent tutorial site about Power BI, DAX and Power Query. It is written and maintained by Mireia, and it has no connection to Microsoft.
What this site is for
Most Power BI material sits at one of two extremes: short listicles that never show a working model, or reference documentation that explains syntax without saying when you would actually use it. This site aims at the space in between — one specific problem per article, a model you can rebuild, and an explanation of why the formula behaves the way it does.
The measure of a good tutorial here is simple: after reading it, you should be able to adapt the solution to your own data instead of copying it and hoping.
How each tutorial is made
- Topics come from problems, not keywords. They are drawn from questions that recur in search results, forum threads and reader email — the places where people get stuck on the same thing again and again.
- Every formula is run before it is published. DAX and Power Query snippets are tested against a sample model in Power BI Desktop. If a measure does not return the stated result, it does not ship. Where behaviour depends on version or storage mode, the article says so explicitly.
- Articles are dated and re-checked. Each tutorial shows when it was published and when it was last reviewed. Power BI changes — visuals get renamed, preview features graduate, older functions get superseded — and articles are revised rather than left to drift out of date.
- Version-dependent claims link to Microsoft. Anything that could change under you is linked to the official documentation so you can verify it yourself rather than take this site's word for it.
Corrections
Technical sites get things wrong, and a tutorial that is quietly incorrect is worse than no tutorial at all. If you find an error, a formula that does not work on your model, or a step that assumes something you don't have, tell me — corrections are applied and the review date is updated. Reader reports are the main way this site improves.

Mireia builds Power BI models and writes about the parts that took longest to get right — filter context, context transition, and why a measure that looks correct returns the wrong number. Every article on this site is written and maintained by the same person, which is why the explanations stay consistent from one tutorial to the next.
